Body, mind and soul. They are undeniably interconnected and their conditions are dependent on one another. A healthy body is not a requirement for faith and intimacy with God, but I’ve found in my experience that when I care for the basic needs of my body, my spiritual life flourishes. What we eat, whether or not we exercise, and what we do in our free time can all help or hinder our relationship with the Lord. I can say with confidence from a God-given place of wholeness in Christ, there is a very real tie between my physical wellness and the state of my soul.

As I was browsing through random tumblr blogs the other day, I came across the saddest thing. It was a blog written by a 14-year-old girl obsessed with losing weight. She said she was 5’8” and hoping to be 100lbs. She was starving herself every day and every post was filled with self-loathing and envy for those who she deemed “skinny.”
One of her posts was a survey of sorts. Reading it filled me with the deepest feeling of darkness and reminded me of the pit of despair Satan drags us into:
I AM -
PEOPLE -
I WISH -
I LOVE -
APPEARANCE-
Reading this was a painful reminder of a dark season of my own life, and a very real reminder that the enemy is filling God’s girls with lies that they are unworthy, unvalued and unloved.
He is wrong.
Girls, you are BEAUTIFUL. You are LOVED. You are VALUED. You are DESIRED. You are WORTHY.
The things of this world will never satisfy. Only the Lord can feed your hungry heart. Will you let him show you how much he loves you? Will you see that you are eternally valuable and innately worthy?
