Body, mind and soul. They are undeniably interconnected and their conditions are dependent on one another. A healthy body is not a requirement for faith and intimacy with God, but I’ve found in my experience that when I care for the basic needs of my body, my spiritual life flourishes. What we eat, whether or not we exercise, and what we do in our free time can all help or hinder our relationship with the Lord. I can say with confidence from a God-given place of wholeness in Christ, there is a very real tie between my physical wellness and the state of my soul.

Two things…
Sorry I fell off the face of the earth. Engagement + crazy work schedule = little time for writing  But, I’m back!
I’m so excited to announce that Wonderfully Made is launching a chapter at Pepperdine in the fall!
To give you some background, Wonderfully Made is a Christian ministry dedicated to helping modern young women discover, strengthen and reclaim their true value and worth. Through our college chapters (at Santa Clara University, Westmont College & Pepperdine), conferences, team of speakers and resources it is our desire to impart to a message of freedom and worth to every young woman by offering community and mentorship, while extending hope to those struggling with issues such as depression, self-harm, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders and promiscuity.
I joined the leadership team of Wonderfully Made in January as a Regional Chapter Director, not sure what exactly my role would look like. However, during prayer and discussion at our WM Executive Leadership Retreat in February, it became clear that God wanted us to pursue developing a chapter at Pepperdine University–after all, Allie and I both went to school there, and after a year of ministry with the girls on the campus, I knew the darkness the girls were battling. Obviously Pepperdine needed Wonderfully Made! Thus, as soon as we decided that was the direction we were taking WM, I contacted some of the girls I had been meeting with this year who I knew would have a heart for ministry to their fellow Pepperdine women, and came up with a leadership team of solid, godly women with so much to offer:
Co-Directors: Kate Brown & Elena Juarez
Administrative & Financial Director: Caitlin Cury
Prayer & Encouragement Director: Kristina Fertala
Girls in Action & HEAL Director: Kristin Farries
Her Story & Creative Director: Lindsay Jernigan

Our new chapter will offer the following programs to help create a strong community of women who know their value:
Girls in Action: Hiking, running, and being active together. A great opportunity to connect with other girls on campus and get outside.
HEAL Groups: Small group studies helping you develop an emotionally and spiritually healthy relationship with food and your body.
Her Story: A twice-monthly coffee-house-style event highlighting women in our community and their powerful stories of God’s faithfulness.
Want to stay informed about what’s happening in our Pepperdine chapter? We created a Wonderfully Made @ Pepperdine blog (also on the blogroll on the right) for just that reason, where we will provide information, resources and encouragement!
Remember, YOU are fearfully and wonderfully made. Know that.
